Calcium alginate
Calcium alginate is extracted from kelp-like Phaeophyceae. In appearance it is amorphous or fibrous powder in white or light yellow color. It is odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. It is a divalent alginate and is Insoluble in water and organic solvents, in dissolvable in ethanol, but slowly soluble in alkaline solution or calcium salt solution.
